I am a trained arts-based therapy practitioner and my lifelong engagement with dance, drama, and movement has shaped a deeply personal understanding of the transformative power of the arts—how stories, music, and embodied expression can evoke empathy, healing, and connection.
Pursuing an MSc in Creative Arts and Mental Health at Queen Mary University of London deepened my understanding of the intricate relationship between creativity and wellbeing and expanded my perspective on systemic healthcare, especially in the UK. I was inspired by the many health professionals, service users, and community leaders and organisations who are courageously shaping inclusive and accessible models of care. The course also offered the opportunity to develop our own creative performances and collaborate with young people through community-based projects.
Since completing the MSc, I have been working with London Arts and Health, a leading creative health advocacy organisation that supports professionals and the sector's work. Alongside this, I am part of an Arts Council England–funded theatre project with migrant domestic workers, amplifying their voices and campaigning for the restoration of the domestic worker visa and the inclusion of domestic work in the UK Employment Bill.
I have recently joined the Board of Theatre Troupe as the Chairperson to work towards their vision of creating safe spaces and building trusted relationships with young people and children through theatre.
