Clayre Attisani
Clayre graduated from the University of Virginia with a BA in Philosophy in 2019, where she was interested in metaphysics and philosophy of mind. She began her career as a research assistant in Boston studying university student mental health. Her involvement in theatre from a young age led her to consider the impact of artistic practice on mental wellbeing. This curiosity, alongside her interest in non-traditional interventions prompted by her research work, led her to pursue the MSc in Creative Arts and Mental Health. She graduated from the program in 2021.
The MSc attachment and co-regulation coursework was highly impactful and relates to her current work at Dr. Beatrice Beebe's Mother-Infant Communication Lab at Columbia NYSPI. She utilizes a behavioral coding schema and microanalysis framework to analyze mother facial affect. She will begin infant observation training, a pre-clinical training activity, in the fall through the Anni Bergman Parent-Infant Program at IPTAR. She hopes to apply for a PhD in Clinical Psychology, and feels that the MSc provided her with a unique and invaluable lens through which she sees clinical work and an opportunity to explore her interest in the relationship between our mental processes and art-making.
She blogs about film and psychology and shares her creative work, including acting and digital media projects, at filmicpsyche.com. You can reach her anytime at clayre.attisani@gmail.com.
