Minnie King
I am a dedicated professional with a diverse background spanning the arts, education, and mental health. I hold an undergraduate degree in Costume for Theatre and Film and an MSc in Creative Arts and Mental Health, which I completed in 2022.
In 2020 I started my own fashion feminist community and endeavoured to create a platform for female artists to meet and flourish through the arts and mental health.
My postgraduate research focused on women's health, feminism, and the structural inequalities that persist within both the arts and mental health sectors.
After completing my MSc, I worked with women in social care before returning to early years education—an area where my passion for preventative approaches to mental health has continued to deepen. I am currently working in an early years setting and preparing to begin the Early Years Initial Teacher Training (EYITT) programme.
My long-term goal is to become a qualified play and art therapist, with a particular interest in early childhood development, trauma, and adverse childhood experiences (ACEs). I am deeply committed to using creative and therapeutic approaches to support emotional wellbeing and bring a strong foundation of personal insight and professional experience to this evolving field.
Studying for the MSc was a transformative experience. It helped me discover that my true passion for the arts lies in their psychological impact and the vital connection between creativity and mental health.
